IMPACT

Monitoring and Evaluation

‘We approached K Scott Consulting to review our three year, Scottish Government funded project, Skills for New Scots. Katie Scott carried out a participatory, accountable, transparent and thorough, evaluation process that involved interviewing beneficiaries and project staff and the production of a final report. The report enabled our organisation to evidence the positive impact we achieved throughout the project life. Impact Funding Partners, who administers the Equality and Cohesion Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government, welcomed the report. Throughout the process, we found Katie’s personality and approach to be very positive and engaging’

Training, Support and Development

“I completed a two month Mentoring training program, developed and delivered by K Scott Consulting as part of the MasterCard Foundation Scholar Program’s Transformative Leadership Summer School at the University of Edinburgh. Katie designed an insightful and thoroughly enjoyable programme which explored mentoring, counselling, leadership and psychology and key supporting skills such as deeper listening, reflective practice and empathy. A dynamic facilitator, each of the group training sessions were inspiring, engaging and really informative. Extremely approachable, Katie also offered 1:1 advice on a drop in basis, which was really valuable and helpful as I worked to support my mentees. As a result of Katie’s training and support, I felt much more confident in mentoring; I enhanced my key skill set and also had an improved understanding of how to support my mentees to maximise opportunities and overcome challenges.”

Karen Ormiston, MasterCard Foundation Transformative Leadership Coach

‘I found the debrief sessions to be really engaging and helpful – it’s been so long since I have been in a ‘learning environment’ and I absolutely loved it. Thanks so much Katie for all of her help and support during the program, it was a really positive experience for me and your sessions meant that we were able to get a lot from the programme ourselves as mentors’.

Workshops

'We hired K Scott Consulting to develop and deliver a workshop “Communicating, co-working and creating a common understanding: A work in practice” during our seminar for International Mentors at the University of Copenhagen in 2016. Katie quickly engaged the 90 participants and led a very interactive workshop, that got the diverse group of Mentors connecting and working together while they developed a better understanding of the internal and external factors of group dynamics. Katie was a charismatic and positive presenter and it was a pleasure to have her at our seminar'.

Stine Agerbæk, International Coordinator, Studenterhuset Copenhagen

Academic Peer Learning

‘As Co-Chairs of the International Academic Peer Learning Leadership Group, Katie and I have worked closely together for two years in this role. This includes strategic planning, implementing projects, and sustaining this growing community of practice. This has involved collaborating effectively to grow our global membership which has increased to over 400 individuals from 22 countries this year. We also planned and delivered the inaugural European Forum on Academic Peer Learning at Lund University in 2017 with colleagues in Sweden, specifically offering a collaborative space to share practice. We are now working together on underpinning this work with impactful research, and developing professional recognition for our members.

Katie is a dynamic, proactive colleague who is a pleasure to work with. She is reliable and committed and has supported our Leadership Group through the challenging period of establishing shared values and getting people on board with ideas. I have no hesitation to recommend her involvement in similar projects as she is a valued team member and leader in our network’.

Teaching

‘I signed up to the Leadership Development Course to become more confident in my role, but I got so much more out of it. Not only did I learn about leadership, but I got practical advice from organisations about how I can use these skills beyond my current setting. I had lots of opportunities to practice and put my knowledge into action, and to top it all off I met some amazing people along the way. I would highly recommend this course’.

Program Development

'I have had the pleasure of working with Katie on a number of peer-led initiatives having first met her when I trained her as an SI/PASS Supervisor. Katie has been instrumental in establishing Peer Leadership at the University of Edinburgh and has been a leader in disseminating practice and sharing her experiences, particularly in Scotland but also internationally. Katie is a passionate and enthusiastic developer, reflected in her co-leadership of the International Academic Peer Learning Network'.

Institutional Leadership

'I worked with Katie Scott in her position as Head of Peer Learning and Support at the University of Edinburgh- she had taken a brief to build a Peer Leadership Program for the Institution and went above and beyond the objectives set before her. Working in a system that was new to her, she was able to design and develop a resilient and flexible framework for Peer Leadership alongside key partners and deliver programs across all 20 Schools of the University. The tools, best practice and support that Katie and her team provide has allowed the Programs to grow in meaningful ways across the University supporting a huge number of students. She is passionate about bringing students and staff together to create meaningful outcomes'.

One to One Mentoring

‘Katie, I really appreciate you taking time to come and support me during my presentation. It has been an honour and such a great pleasure to have you as a mentor.  You are the best and you might not see it, but you really helped me a lot’.
